Two years ago I decided to give international teaching a go. I daydreamed about old European buildings transformed into art museums. I planned spending my summer taking trains to nearby countries and diving headfirst into different cultures, sights and adventures. Then I woke up in Colombia were instead of art museums there are rumba bars. No trains but plenty of smog blasting busetas. Different cultures...well 20 hours on one of those buseta's MIGHT get you there.
This was not the land of my dreams. But the challenges here have hopefully given me a different perspective and a chance at things I would have never considered before. This is what I try to remember day in, day out, of living here and this is my blog that helps me make it through the land of latin hips with my relatively square ones.
